Independent Contractor Courier Drivers

Our courier division is the backbone of our company and has been providing great customer service to customers quickly gaining recognition in this fast paced industry. Unlike other courier companies, L and J does not nickel and dime the Independent Contractor for cost they incur to service clients. We have service needs by customers 24/7/365 which require cars, SUVs, minivans, full-­size cargo vans, and sprinter vans. Independent Contractors are individuals in business for themselves. Contractors are required to provide their own vehicle, equipment, insurance, fuel, and maintenance. An Independent Contractor must fulfill the following requirements to provide customers with services.

• At least 21 years of age.

• Valid driver’s license and one additional form of government issued identification.

• 7 year motor vehicle record.

• Clean criminal background.

• Minimum auto liability insurance requirements of 100/300/50 for vehicles under 10,001 pounds.

• Experienced as an Independent Contractor.

• Site inspection of vehicle to ensure that the equipment is good condition.

 

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR FREIGHT DRIVERS:

Our freight division received client service requests for shipments ranging from 16ft – 26ft box trucks with a majority of shipments requiring lift gate capability. Below are the contracting requirements for our freight division.

• At least 21 years of age.

• Pallet jack to move materials effectively on and off vehicle at client’s request.

• Valid driver’s license and one additional form of government issued identification.

• Will need to provide a copy of your DOT medical card.

• 7 year motor vehicle record.

• Minimal insurance requirements differ on vehicle weight rating. Class C trucks 10,001 to 26,000 pounds require a minimum $1,000,000 liability with $100,000 cargo.

• Will need to provide a copy of your authority to operate (DOT# and Motor Carrier#).

• Will need to provide a copy of your most recent annual inspection for the vehicle.
